The Father - ZBS

Before the towers, before the airports, before the world knew this land by name — there was Zayed.

The Father — ZBS is the anchor of the Nahyani Collection and perhaps its most powerful image. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan stands beside a classic Rolls-Royce Phantom, his bisht sweeping behind him like a flag, one hand shielding his eyes as he looks into the distance.

The story behind this image is inseparable from the story of the UAE. It was in a Rolls-Royce Phantom — fitted with oversized desert tires — that Sheikh Zayed drove to the border of Abu Dhabi and Dubai to meet Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum on 18 February 1968. There, in the open desert, the two leaders shook hands on the foundation of a federation. That handshake became the UAE.

Sheikh Zayed served as the nation's first President from 1971 until his passing in 2004. He built schools, hospitals, and roads from oil wealth he believed was a trust held for his people. He was called "the wise man of the Arabs." His son carries that wisdom forward.
